What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is a distinct primary health care system that blends modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine. The naturopathic philosophy is to stimulate the innate healing power of the body and to treat the underlying root cause of disease.

Some modalities used include functional nutrition and lifestyle counseling, botanical medicine, physical medicine, acupuncture and traditional chinese medicine, intravenous and injection therapies, pharmaceutical prescribing and laboratory testing.

Naturopathic Doctors have a minimum of 7 years post-scondary training and pass rigourous licensing and board examinations, as well as maintain continuing education credits to maintain licensure. Services are covered by most extended medical plans.
